To kick off the new school year, Geelong Grammar School enlisted ITSEC Australia’s security experts to give a presentation to all their staff on the ever-important topic of cyber security awareness.

Did you know that the Education sector is one of the sectors most targeted by cyber criminals in Australia? According to Forbes, data theft and data misuse have increased by more than 50% in the education sector since 2022. The personal information and digital identities of both students and teachers are targeted by cybercriminals.

Due to the shift to cloud learning during and post the global pandemic, this sector has increased in popularity to cyber criminals. This includes students, teachers and also the administrative procedures used in schools and universities.

Although organisations spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on various security tools, the last line of defence is of course, your staff. ITSEC run short, sharp presentations to enable staff and students to better identify email, phone and SMS scams, and how these can impact the network should they fall victim.

ITSEC Security Awareness Training SeminarWe live in an online world, so the intent is not to create fear, but to create awareness for any online user.

It is now not a matter of if you will be breached, or when you will be breached, but how many times you will be breached.

Although it is recommended that every organisation adopt an ongoing Security Awareness program for schools, ITSEC’s security awareness training session provide a good kick start to the awareness piece by presenting an engaging and interactive session to schools.
